Fargo South High School Scholarships

The Foundation works with donors who have created annual gifts and permanently endowed scholarships for deserving graduates of South High School. To donate to South High School Scholarships, CLICK HERE

2026 Scholarship Applications

  • Established by his family, the Rob Arneson Memorial Scholarship honors his 23 years of dedication to Fargo Public Schools and his passion for education. It is awarded to a well-rounded graduating senior interested in elementary education who demonstrates academic excellence and strong leadership.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • Established in honor of Janet D. Beaton, a devoted supporter of her grandchildren’s Fargo South activities, this annual scholarship is awarded to a Fargo South graduating senior pursuing visual arts or business. Applicants must plan to attend a four-year college and demonstrate achievement in visual arts or business, with preference given to students involved in Key Club and/or extracurricular activities.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • The John and Mary Challey Scholarship supports Fargo South or Dakota High School seniors pursuing non-traditional post-graduation paths, including college, trade, vocational, or apprenticeship programs. This need-based scholarship is renewable for one year and prioritizes students who value education and community service.

  • This scholarship honors Helen Ericson Fossum, a 1932 Fargo Central graduate and lifelong advocate for literature, the arts, and education. It recognizes her lasting commitment to learning and service in the Fargo community and is awarded to a Fargo South graduating senior with an interest in literature, communications, or the arts who plans to attend a four-year post-secondary institution and is active in school and community life.

  • The Neil Fredenburg Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student-athlete who reflects Neil’s values of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and a genuine love for life. Applicants must be in good standing under the co-curricular and student participation policy.

  • The Jay Kasdan Memorial Scholarship honors Fargo South alumnus Jay Kasdan (Class of 1978), a passionate educator and lifelong supporter of DECA and student leadership. It is awarded to a Fargo South graduating senior who participated in the DECA program during junior and senior year and plans to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.

  • This annual scholarship honors Linda Lockwood’s passion for life and advocacy for female athletics. It is awarded to a Fargo South female senior student-athlete who exemplifies community involvement, fair play, and sportsmanship.

  • Awarded to a well-rounded senior with good communication skills who is serious about pursuing a career in education and who has demonstrated academic success and leadership ability.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • This scholarship honors Jared Nilles, a 2003 Fargo South graduate and passionate performer in film and improvisation. It is awarded to a Fargo South graduating senior active in the performing arts, with priority given to students involved in Donkey Hotey’s Improvisational Club.

  • The Leah Juelke Journey to America Scholarship supports Fargo South graduating seniors who are non-native English speakers and pursuing post-secondary education in any field. Named for Fargo South alumna and North Dakota Teacher of the Year Leah Juelke, the scholarship reflects her commitment to empowering immigrant and refugee students and amplifying diverse voices, with special consideration given to English Learner students and demonstrated financial need.
    Application deadline is March 31st.

  • This scholarship honors the memory of Nate Olsby and is awarded to a Fargo South High School senior athlete. A 2002 Fargo South graduate, Nate had a deep love for sports, especially hockey and golf, and was a member of the Fargo South State Championship Golf Team. The scholarship is funded by his friends and family.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a career in construction or a related field who demonstrates academic success and leadership. Priority is given to students enrolled in construction or career and technical education courses and those planning to attend a two-year post-secondary institution in North Dakota or Minnesota, though students pursuing construction-related degrees at four-year institutions will also be considered.

  • The Lenore and Norman Tenneson Scholarship honors two lifelong advocates for education and community service. Awarded annually to a Fargo South graduating senior, it recognizes a student who values learning and reflects the Tennesons’ commitment to service and leadership.

  • This scholarship funded by American Crystal is intended to be awarded to a well-rounded graduating
    high school senior pursuing a post-secondary education in one or more of the following fields of study:
    1. Science
    2. Agriculture
    3. Engineering
    4. Mathematics
    5. Technology

  • This scholarship, funded by American Crystal, is intended to be awarded to a well-rounded graduating high
    school senior pursuing a technical school education in one or more of the following fields of study:
    1. Science
    2. Agriculture
    3. Engineering
    4. Mathematics
    5. Technology

  • This scholarship is awarded to a well-rounded Fargo Public Schools graduating senior who demonstrates academic achievement and leadership, with consideration given to Native American students. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be accepted to a four-year post-secondary institution. Brought to you by the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation.

  • Established by Ron and Karen Offutt in honor of their granddaughter, Chelsea Brandt (Davies High School, Class of 2015), this scholarship supports students pursuing higher education with an interest in entrepreneurship or business.

  • A community scholarship program for graduates of six Fargo area high schools - Davies, North, South, Oak Grove, Shanley, Dakota, and the FPS Virtual Academy. Helping students expand their access to educational opportunities.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • The Juelke-Disale Educator Scholarship is an annual award for Fargo-area students who are non-native English speakers and pursuing post-secondary degrees in education. Established by North Dakota Teacher of the Year Leah Juelke and named in honor of her and Global Teacher Prize winner Ranjit Disale, the scholarship supports diverse future educators committed to making a positive impact.
    Application deadline March 31st.

  • The Walt Hatlestad Annual Scholarship is awarded to an academically motivated student, child of an educator, attending Fargo North, South, or Davies High School. The recipient should reflect Walt Hatlestad’s legacy of integrity, compassion, leadership, and sportsmanship.
    Application Deadline March 31st.

  • This scholarship is presented by NextGrad and is available to a Fargo Davies, North and South graduating senior pursuing a post-secondary education.
